Location

We are looking for a forward-thinking building owner in the greater Ann Arbor area. Our desire is to activate and add value to a previously under utilized space, but it takes an owner willing to work with a first-time, female business owner.

Finding a location for Recess has been challenging. There is an initial education period to help the owner understand what a third place is, the revenue model and the need. Many begin to see the value but are still reluctant to offer a lease to a first time entrepreneur.

The community sees the gap and similar businesses (especially ones with event space) have proven success all over Michigan and the greater US, but it will take a real estate owner to realize our dream.

Know of a perfect location or have one of your own? We would LOVE to see it. Our ideal space has the following components:

• Falls within the Ann Arbor circles.

• Has a current patio or outdoor space enough to create one.

• Is between 1,700 and 3,500 sq/ft. We have floor plans and revenue models for both.

• Available parking.

• Is currently under-served. This means there is an opportunity to increase the number of cafes, gathering places, or things to do with children in the immediate area.
